New Delhi, Oct 9: The Election Commission announced the schedule for holding assembly elections in five states - Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram - on Monday.

- Madhya Pradesh to vote on November 17
- Chhattisgarh to vote on November 7 and 17
- Mizoram to vote on November 7
- Rajasthan to vote on November 23
- Telangana to vote on November 30
Counting will take place on December 3
Key Points-
1. Around 60 lakh first-time voters will be able to participate in elections in five states, with 15.39 lakh young voters eligible to participate in elections due to amendments on qualifying dates.
2. Madhya Pradesh will elect legislators for 230 constituencies, Rajasthan for 200 constituencies, Telangana for 119 constituencies, Chhattisgarh for 90 constituencies and Mizoram for 40 constituencies.
3. The term of the Mizoram assembly ends on December 17. Meanwhile, The terms of the legislative assemblies of Telangana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan end on different dates in January next year.
4. The Mizo National Front is in power in the northeastern state while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) rules Telangana, Madhya Pradesh is ruled by the BJP. The Congress is in power in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
