The 40-year-old had gone there five months ago to work at a brick kiln, his family said. The man is survived by his wife Kushma and four children - daughters Nisha (19) and Khushi (12), and sons Pankaj (14) and Ankush (9). Kumar was the youngest of his three brothers.

The security around the incident site was beefed up and the area has been cordoned off, as an investigation is underway. This is the second terror attack in the Kashmir Valley in the past 24 hours. On Sunday, some militants had shot at and critically injured a police officer while he was playing cricket with locals at the Eidgah ground in Srinagar.

The official, identified as Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani, sustained three bullet injuries and is currently under treatment.
