New Delhi, Oct 31: After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Delhi Chief Minister and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged that the ED's summons to Kejriwal was an aim by the BJP to "finish the party".

The ED has summoned the Delhi CM on November 2, to question him in connection with a money laundering case pertaining to the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy.

AAP leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that the BJP was leaving "no stones unturned" to file a false case against Kejriwal. Bhardwaj's party colleague Atishi also said the BJP was "scared" of AAP and the work done by its governments in Delhi and Punjab.

While addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Atishi said, "We are getting information that when Arvind Kejriwal appears before ED on November 2, ED will arrest & put him in jail. BJP & the PM want to finish AAP. Arvind Kejriwal will be arrested not because there is any case against him, it is because the PM fears him."

This is the first time that Kejriwal has been summoned by the ED. He was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the case in April.

Kejriwal was earlier summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in April this year, in connection with the case. However, Kejriwal was not named as an accused in the first information report (FIR) filed by the CBI on August 17, last year.

In February 2023, former deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi's new excise policy. The policy was withdrawn amid allegations of foul play by the opposition.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the bail plea filed on behalf of Manish Sisodia in connection with cases related to the alleged liquor scam.
