New Delhi, Oct 14: In a huge development, the female labour force participation rate in the country has improved by 4.2 percentage points to 37 per cent in 2023.
 
This came after the Women and Child Development Ministry announced the data about the female labour force participation rate in the country.

According to the data shared by the Women and Child Development Ministry, the female labour force participation rate increased from 23.3 per cent in 2017-18 to 24.5 per cent in 2018-19; 30 per cent in 2019-20 to 32.5 per cent in 2020-21 and 32.8 per cent in 2021-22 to 37 per cent in 2022-23.
 
 
“The Periodic Labour Force Survey Report 2022-23 released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation on October 9, 2023 shows that the female labour force participation rate in the country has improved significantly by 4.2 percentage points to 37 per cent in 2023, as per the ‘usual status’ concept of measuring labour force participation,” the ministry said.

The data shows a consistent pattern of growth in the female labor force participation rate. Starting at 23.3 percent in 2017-18, the rate increased year by year. The year 2019-20 witnessed a more substantial increase, jumping from 24.5 percent to 30 percent.
 
Overall, the data indicates a positive trend of increasing female labor force participation over the years, which can be influenced by a range of factors, including economic conditions, changing social norms, and government policies aimed at promoting gender equality and women's participation in the workforce.
