New Delhi, Jan 3: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday gunned down an armed Pakistani intruder who was trying to approach the barbed wire fence. He continued walking towards the Indian territory from the Pakistani side despite being warned.
The Pakistani intruder, who was carrying a pump action gun, had crossed the ‘zero line’ near the Channa border outpost along the Line of Control (LoC) in Punjab.
According to the BSF statement, "During morning hours on Tuesday, BSF troops observed suspicious movement of a Pakistani armed miscreant ahead of the Border fencing, in the area falling near bordering village Dariya Mansoor under district – Amritsar."
"Troops challenged the miscreant, but he did not stop and continued moving ahead. Sensing imminent threat and to stop further misadventure, BSF troops fired upon the miscreant in self-defence, killing him on the spot," it added.
An extensive search of the area is in progress, officials added.
