Karnataka orders mandatory use of Kannada language in all govt programs

In a circular, the government stated that the Kannada language is mandatory henceforth in all programs organized by the state and the Centre. The government issued this order under the Karnataka official language act of 1963.

Bengaluru, September 07: Taking a major step, the Karnataka government has ordered the mandatory use of the Kannada language in all government programs from September 6. The Chief Secretary of the Karnataka Government, Vandita Sharma has issued a circular regarding this order.

In a circular, the government stated that the Kannada language is mandatory henceforth in all programs organized by the state and the Centre. The government issued this order under the Karnataka official language act of 1963.
 
 
 
In the circular, it is mentioned that as per the Karnataka official language Act of 163, Kannada is the official language of the state and shall be used at all levels of administration. Based on this the Kannada Development Authority is established to protect the interest of Kannadigas.
 
In its letter, KDA mentioned that the Kannada Language is mandatory for all programmers organised by the Centre and the state. As per the order, the banners and posters too shall have writing in Kannada.
