Bengaluru, September 06: Pinning blame on the previous Congress government, for the flood-like situation in cyber city Bengaluru, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai this happened because of maladministration of the previous Congress government.
While answering the question related to the flood, Basavaraj added, "This (waterlogging in Bengaluru) happened because of maladministration and unplanned administration of previous Congress government. They gave permission right, left, and center for lakes and buffer zone."
Basavaraj Bommai said the deluge was due to "unprecedented rainfall and overflowing" of water bodies but assured that his government is committed to restore normalcy.
"Karnataka, especially Bengaluru has not received unprecedented heavy rain...for the last 90 years, such rain has not been recorded. All the tanks are full and are overflowing, some of them have breached, and there have been continuous rains, every day it is raining," he said.
Basavaraj Bommai also claimed that an image was being created as if the entire Bengaluru was facing difficulties, which he said was untrue.
"Basically the issue lies in two zones, particularly the Mahadevapura zone for reasons such as presence of 69 tanks in that small area and almost all of them have either breached or are overflowing. Secondly, all establishments are in low lying areas, and the third is encroachments," Basavaraj Bommai said.
