New Delhi, Sept 30: JNU student Sharjeel Imam was granted bail on Friday by a Delhi court in a case related to speeches he had allegedly made at Jamia Milia Islamia University, the Aligarh Muslim University, Gaya, and in Asansol in December 2019.

The court granted bail that Imam pays a personal bond of Rs 30,000. Imam has been in judicial custody since January 2020. Despite getting bail in the case, Sharjeel Imam is not yet a free man and will have to remain behind bars as there are several cases against him that are still pending.
 
 
Imam had filed a bail application in the Saket district court in Delhi citing the Supreme Court's verdict issuing a stay on all trials of sedition cases.
