Here’s why Europe is in deep crisis

According to a "Guardian" report in 2019, 35% of people in the UK believed that Islam was a threat to the British way of life and 32% said that there were "no-go areas" in Britain where purportedly sharia law dominated and non-Muslims could not enter.

Islamic radicalisation in many parts of Europe is becoming a cause of concern, as per many experts, with a spate of attacks in recent times against Christians, Hindus and Jews. Recently, a Shiva temple in Leicester, United Kingdom, was vandalised allegedly by members of the Muslim community. According to media reports, two other temples were attacked by Muslim radicals elements in the UK. Also, according to the News18 report, Pakistan’s ISI was behind the violent demonstration outside the Durga Bhawan temple in the UK’s Smethwick.

Here’s why Europe is in deep crisis Islamic radicalisation

The fact of the matter is that Pakistan is deeply involved in radicalising Muslims across the world. There are a few facts, which clearly demonstrate Pakistan’s involvement in terrorism across the region. In 2010, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Pakistani-American neuroscientist Aafia Siddiqui 2010, who is serving 86-years-imprisonment in the US, on terrorism-related charges. She was arrested after trying to kill a group of FBI agents, interpreters, and US soldiers while she was to be interrogated in Ghazni (Afghanistan) for her connections with al Qaeda. Surprisingly, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) publicly showed their support for her. Even in 2018, the Pakistani Senate unanimously passed a resolution to release Siddiqui and referred to her as the 'daughter of the nation'.

Also, who will forget, Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, a British terrorist and son of Pakistani origin father, killed Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl. These are only a few examples. Pakistan’s hand in spreading global terrorism is bigger.

Now coming to the point, this is not the first time that the UK is witnessing this type of violence by members of a particular community. According to a "Guardian" report in 2019, 35% of people in the UK believed that Islam was a threat to the British way of life and 32% said that there were 'no-go areas' in Britain where purportedly sharia law dominated and non-Muslims could not enter.

Notably, the Muslim population in the United Kingdom constitutes merely 4% of the total population in the country, but 18% of prison inmates in the UK are Muslims, which is the highest in terms of population ratio. Also, in the past, a banned terrorist organization like Islam4UK led by Pakistani-origin Islamic terrorist Anjem Choudary was deeply involved in radicalising Muslims in the UK, as per reports.

Importantly, Kuwaiti–born British terrorist Jihadi John, originally known as Mohammed Emwazi, who was seen in several videos released by the Islamic state, where he was seen beheading captives in 2014 and 2015, cannot be forgotten.

The situation in other parts of Europe is also said to be concerning. For instance, France has been targeted multiple times by radical Islamists. According to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation report, from 2015 to 2018, the number of people killed in terrorist attacks in France was 249. In October 2020, a knife-wielding attacker shouting “Allahu Akbar” beheaded a woman and killed two other people at a church in the French city of Nice. Earlier, in 2015, armed terrorists attacked satirical weekly newspaper Charlie Hebdo, in which 12 people were killed. These terrorists identified themselves as belonging to the Islamic terrorist group al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.

Moreover, in Belgium, groups like Sharia4Belgium, Resto du Tawheed, and the Zerkani network are said to be deeply involved in jihadi radicalisation. According to the official number, by mid-2016, about 450 Belgian individuals traveled to Syria and many of them joined the terrorist organization the Islamic State.

The situation in Sweden is also said to be similar to Belgium. Gothenburg, in western Sweden, is one of the cities from which most people joined Islamic extremist groups, according to a report by ‘The Local’. According to a BBC report, Sweden became an exporter of jihad, from where more than 300 people went to Syria and Iraq to fight alongside the radical elements.

The situation is such that 57% of people in the country view Muslim immigrants as increasing the risk of domestic terrorism, as per Pew research center.
