MEA assures safety of Indians in UK after series of communal attacks on Hindus

Regarding the incidents of communal violence against Hindus in UK, particularly the organized incidents that took place at Leicester and Birmingham, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi emphasized on the condemnation of the violence exhibited by the Indian High Commission in London.

New Delhi, Sept 23: In a recent press briefing, Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi shared the updates of how the Ministry is tacking the recent incidents of Islamist Communal Violence in UK. He shared that the Ministry has severely condemned the violent incidents of Leicester and Birmingham in UK and is in touch with the British counterparts and responsible authorities about the same.

Regarding the incidents of communal violence against Hindus in UK, particularly the organized incidents that took place at Leicester and Birmingham, MEA Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi emphasized on the condemnation of the violence exhibited by the Indian High Commission in London. Bagchi reiterated that the High Commission continues to be in touch with the UK side.
 
 
The Ministry has confirmed that it is in touch with the diplomatic as well as the security authorities to prevent further similar incident of anti Hindu violence and take action. The Ministry shared that it has been repeatedly requesting against the perpetrators to prevent such attacks and take action. Bagchi stressed that even at New York, the Minister of External Affairs, Dr S Jaishankar raised this issue with his counterpart from the UK.
 
 
 
 
 
In a series of incidents of communal violence that have erupted in the UK after the Asia Cup India-Pakistan cricket match on Aug 28, first Muslim mob was seen literally hunting down and horrifying Hindus in Leicester after India had the won the first Asia Cup match against Pakistan. Later in the second incident that took place on Sept 17, when several Indians, mainly Hindus, had crowded the streets to peacefully protest the anti - Hindu violence that of Aug 28, the protesters were targeted by Islamist radicals and Muslims were seen hurling glass bottles at the protestors.
 
 
In the most recent incident, a planned siege was observed at an event of Sadhvi Ritambhara that was already postponed. The recent Islamist protests took place at Durga Bhawan Mandir, located at 360 Spon Lane, B66 Birmingham. There have been serious and substantial claims with supportive evidence that all the attacks were well organized and preplanned on Social media.
