Mumbai, August 17: Director Vivek Agnihotri recently lashed out at Anurag Kashyap, as the latter stated that he hoped that The Kashmir Files will not be the pick for the Oscar nomination. Kashyap, while promoting his upcoming film ‘Dobaaraa’, sang praises about the recent success that the Southern Indian film industry is celebrating with ‘RRR’, while leaving such comments about Agnihotri's film, which also saw massive success at the box office.

According to reports, Anurag Kashyap said, “I enjoyed Pushpa, I didn’t enjoy RRR as much, because I’m a massive Rajamouli-Eega fan. When he makes me believe in something which only comes from his mind, I believe in it. But when you’re building a mythology, then I feel it’s not really sticking. RRR, some action scenes had an impact on me."

“The West sees RRR differently than how we see it, and they’ve loved RRR. If RRR becomes the India selection, 99% it might get nominated for the Academy Award. That is the impact that RRR has had in the world of Hollywood. India might actually have a nomination in the final five, if RRR is the film that we pick. I don’t know what film anybody is going to pick. I hope not Kashmir Files," he added.

Maybe the mention of The Kashmir Files was taken personally by the film’s director Vivek Agnihotri. who called out on Twitter with a screenshot of the interview Anurag gave, with a caption, “IMPORTANT: The vicious, GENOCIDE-DENIER lobby of Bollywood has started their campaign against #TheKashmirFiles for #Oscars, under the leadership of the maker of #Dobaaraa.”

Many fans of The Kashmir Files have come out in support of Vivek Agnihotri as he shared the aforementioned announcement.
