Good Bye Gotabaya! Enraged protestors attack Sri Lanka President Gotabaya's residence

It is also being confirmed that Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, who the protestors are expecting to resign from his position and thus have entered his residence, will be leaving the country via sea.

Colombo, Jul 9: After thousands of enraged protestors on Saturday (Jul 9) barged into his residence in Colombo, Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa reportedly fled his home. Several gunshots were heard being fired in the air and police reportedly used tear gas to ward off protestors who surrounded the presidential residence.

Protestors entered the President's House, after situation in the crisis struck island nation continued to worsen. Sri Lanka Police has announced curfew in several areas of the Western region. It is also being confirmed that Sri Lanka President who the protestors are expecting to resign from his position and thus have entered his residence, will be leaving the country via sea. However, there are no reports of where the President has fled to presently on the face of the enraged protests.
 
 
 
 
 
Considering the worsened conditions, Sri Lanka Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has summoned an emergency Party Leaders meeting to discuss the situation and come to a swift resolution. The Sri Lanka Prime Minister is also requesting the Speaker to summon Parliament.
 
The worsening economic situation in Sri Lanka has led to increasing tensions and over the last few weeks there were reports of several confrontations between individuals and members of the police force and the armed forces at fuel stations where thousands of desperate members of the public have queued for hours and sometimes days. According to the reports of Sri Lankan media, Police have used tear gas and water cannon at times in an unnecessary and disproportionate manner. On occasions, armed forces have also fired live ammunition.
