Islamabad, July 8: Continuing to extend their support to terrorists, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday glorified terrorist Burhan Wani and criticized India over Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistans Ministry of Foreign Affairs also posted a message on Burhan Wani's death anniversary.
In a tweet, Sharif said that Wani's 'heroic struggle' continues to 'inspire the Kashmiri youth & blaze their path'. "Indian occupation forces martyred Burhan Wani this day in 2016 but could never extinguish the flame of freedom he ignited in the hearts & minds of the people of IIOJK. His heroic struggle against ruthless & illegal occupation continues to inspire the Kashmiri youth & blaze their path," Sharif said in a tweet.
Apart from this,
Pakistan's Foreign Office stated, "Today marks the sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of iconic Kashmiri youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani. The government and people of Pakistan pay strong tribute to the life and legacy of Burhan Wani for his selfless contribution and sacrifice in the struggle of the Kashmiris to attain their inalienable right to self-determination."
Further, it said, "While paying homage to Burhan Wani as the face of the indigenous Kashmir freedom movement, Pakistan once again urges the Government of India to desist from indiscriminate use of force and relentless targeting of Kashmiris especially the youth." It also urged the "international community to play its due role for a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people."
According to R
adio Pakistan, the national public broadcaster for radio in Pakistan, Sharif said Burhan Wani penned down a new chapter in freedom movement of Kashmir through his unparalleled sacrifice. He also said Burhan, an ardent student, was forced to leave books and carry gun due to unjust Indian oppression and has now become an epitome of Kashmiri people's indomitable resistance against India's illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said a nation having brave sons like Burhan Wani cannot be enslaved by the whole world what to speak of nine hundred thousand Indian forces. Saluting the Kashmiri people for their decades long courageous struggle, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's every possible support to the Kashmiri people in their just struggle for freedom.
He called upon the international community to play its role in resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through plebiscite under the relevant UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
Pakistan has been making several attempts to internationalize the Kashmir dispute on several platforms including United Nations. The attempts, however, received a muted response from the world community including from Pakistan's allies such as China. India, on the other hand, has given a befitting reply and slammed Pakistan saying that Kashmir is India's internal matter. New Delhi has also maintained that Pakistan has waged a proxy war against India and has been a source of terrorism in Kashmir.
After taking over as Pakistan PM, Sharif had raked up the Kashmir issue and said that for the prevalence of peace in Asia, it's India's responsibility to revoke the unilateral and illegal decision of August 5, 2019, so that the issue of Jammu & Kashmir can be resolved with talks.
