New Delhi, Jul 22: The Minority Affairs Ministry, yesterday (Jul 21), shared a report in the parliament regarding the progress of govt policies and schemes that have been adopted and implemented for minorities, including 'Muslims'. However, the progress of the schemes was shared aiming the ongoing religious chaos across the country, where several Muslims have claimed of unjust treatment by the govt.

In its statement, the Ministry of Minority Affairs cleared that the govt implements various schemes for the welfare and upliftment of every section of the society including Muslims. The various schemes being implemented include the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN), Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana, and several others. At the same time, it also cleared that minorities belonging to EWS category can avail the benefit of ten percent reservation in employment and admission in educational institutions.
“The govt definitely doesn't provide any particular scheme for the upliftment of Muslims alone, as they are one of the minorities that comprise the Indian population and their upliftment is not the sole purpose of the govt. In fact expecting so will be like keeping one community at the centre of governance.”
Further, the Ministry of Minority Affairs informed that it has adopted a multi-pronged strategy by way of implementation of various schemes which aim at educational empowerment, employment-oriented skill development, infrastructure support, and similar other growth aspects, for the upliftment of living standards of economically weaker and under privileged sections of all notified minorities which include Muslims as well.

Among the Educational Empowerment Schemes, the govt has initiated Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Merit-cum-Means based Scholarship Scheme, all for educational empowerment through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode for students coming from minority communities.
The Maulana Azad National Fellowship Scheme provide fellowships in the form of financial assistance. The Naya Savera scheme provides free coaching to the students. The Padho Pardesh Scheme is a scheme of interest subsidy to students of minority communities on educational loans for overseas higher studies. The Nai Udaan Scheme supports students to clear Prelims conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), State Public Service Commission (PSC) Staff Selection Commission (SSC) etc.
Among the employment oriented schemed for minorities including Muslims, the report mentions 'Seekho Aur Kamao' for Skill development of minority youth of 14 - 35 years age group. The scheme aims at providing employment and employment opportunities, improving the employability of existing workers as well as school dropouts.
The USTTAD (Upgrading the Skills and Training in Traditional Arts and Crafts for Development) scheme, under which Hunar Haat are being organized across the country to provide employment opportunities and markets to artisans and craftsmen. Nai Manzil is a scheme for formal school education and skilling of school dropouts, eligible for minorities. Govt's Nai Roshni scheme aims Leadership development of women belonging to minority communities.
Besides the report also mentions the data of infrastructure development projects undertaken by the govt aiming the ease of living of the minority communities. According to the report, ever since the inception of Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK), the Ministry has sanctioned more than 49,000 major projects which includes 49 Degree Colleges, 179 Residential Schools, 3016 School Buildings, 42,269 Additional Class Rooms, Libraries, Laboratories and Halls, 15,659 Teaching Aids and Smart Classrooms, 7452 toilets in schools, 1393 Hostels, 28 Working Women Hostels, 207 ITI Buildings and additional facilities in 41 ITIs, 56 Polytechnics, 84 Skill Centres and Hunar Hubs, 6016 Health Projects, 591 Sadhbhav Mandaps and Common Service Centres, 610 Market Sheds, 3100 Sanitation and Public Toilet projects, 92 Sports Facilities.
