Tibetan community in Europe protests in France against recent hate crime

Paris, Jul 18: Following the killing of a Tibetan National by three men from the Chinese community on Jul 11 in Normandy, representatives from the Tibetan community gathered in France on Sunday (Jul 17), in order to perform a white march and pay a tribute to the deceased.
The Tibetan national named Tsultrim Nomjour Tsang, 32, received a fatal stab wound to the side in front of a restaurant, which had been employing him for a week, in Saint Leonard. According to the local French media, attackers were the two managers of the restaurant and an employee who were indicted for intentional homicide and imprisoned within the framework of the investigation.
Tibetans from all over Europe; Switzerland, Belgium, and Spain, had assembled in Paris on Jul 17 for the protest. The protesters carried bouquets of flowers for the white march of unprecedented magnitude. According to reports, the protesters numbered around 10,000. According to ANI, Monde Rigzin Gekhang, representative of His Holiness Dalai Lama in Europe said, "We had never experienced anything like it. It was really a shock."
The Saint Leonard murder deeply shook the community as protesters mentioned 'one event too many' in an increasingly tense political context which sees Beijing increasing pressure on its diaspora. Other than the white march, a local Tibetan group had organized another peace march on Sunday (Jul 17) in Paris from Place de la Bastille to Republique in the memory of the deceased.
