Pune, July 13: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the heavy rains will continue till July 14, in Pune district. Keeping into account the downpour happening over the last few days, the authorities have now decided to close schools on Thursday, July 14.
PCMC Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil has ordered to keep all the private and government schools closed today and tomorrow. He has also issued an order in this regard.
On the other hand, Minakshi Raut, education officer of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), said that all schools in the PMC area will also remain closed on Thursday. An order in this regard is to be issued soon.
Pune Zilla Parishad CEO Ayush Prasad said that schools will remain closed in the affected areas and an order is being issued.
The meteorological department has also issued a red alert to Pune district. The IMD on Wednesday issued a nowcast warning for Maharashtra's Pune, Satara, Solapur, Sangli and Kolhapur districts, predicting moderate to intense rainfall at isolated places in next 3 to 4 hours.
