New Delhi, June 08: Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya launched the ‘Ayurveda Aahar’ logo on the occasion of World Food Safety Day. He said, this will help in creating a unique identity of ‘Ayurveda Aahar’ for easy identification and its proven benefits to improve health and well-being.

Addressing World Food Safety Day Celebration in New Delhi, Mandaviya said, a healthy citizens makes a healthy society. He said, Narendra Modi Government has established Health and Wellness Centres across the country to provide affordable and accessible health care for all.
 
Dr Mandaviya highlighted that in the last few years, health care has also seen a holistic development in the country. He said, states have an important role in ensuring food safety and healthy food practices. Dr Mandaviya said, it is the need of the hour that all the citizens come together to ensure a healthy nation.
 
The Minister also released Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, FSSAI 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI) to measure the performance of states across five parameters of food safety. SFSI was started from 2018-19 with the aim of creating a competitive and positive change in the food safety ecosystem in the country. He said, the index will help in providing safe and nutritious food to the citizens.
 
In an effort to galvanize States/UTs to work towards ensuring safe food for citizens, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Mansukh Mandaviya released Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)’s 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI) to measure the performance of States across five parameters of food safety.
 
SFSI was started from 2018-19 with the aim of creating a competitive and positive change in the food safety ecosystem in the country. The index will help in providing safe and nutritious food to our citizens. Tamil Nadu topped the State Food Safety Index this year, followed by Gujarat and Maharashtra this year. Among the smaller States, Goa stood first, followed by Manipur and Sikkim. Among the Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and Chandigarh secured first, second and third ranks.
 
The winners were felicitated by Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday. The State Food Safety Index (SFSI) measures the performance of States on the basis of five parameters prescribed by the Health Ministry. The rating is done by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
