New Delhi, May 30: President of Jammu and Kashmir's regional political party, National Conference, Chief Farooq Abdullah challenged the Indian govt to win the heart of Kashmiris and said that there will be peace in Jammu and Kashmir only after that happens. Abdullah was addressing an event at Delhi.
Farooq Abdullah said while addressing an event at Delhi, "I will not be at peace until you win the hearts of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. There cannot be peace in Jammu and Kashmir till you'll win the hearts of people.." He further stressed that "Deaths are happening in Kashmir everyday."
Abdullah subtly also tried to put forth the idea that the 'excessive' presence of army in the valley is a problem, at least for him, saying, "There is not a single day when deaths are not taking place in the Union Territory. A large part of the union territory has been filled with army personnel. The army cannot always win the heart of people. Instead, you need love there. They (the govt) need to understand that." The statement clearly tries to color the armed forces in abusive shades, in the valley.
On the contrary, what the armed forces are actually doing in J&K regarding the increased violence is clear from the recent arrests and deaths of militants and terrorists. On May 26, the Jammu and Kashmir Police informed that as many as 26 terrorists affiliated to Lashkar - e -Taiba and Jaish - e - Muhammad outfits have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir, during the first five months of the year. With such shaded statements, Farooq Abdullah, in another attempt tries to invoke the separatist sentiments in the valley, that the govt and practically the armed forces are working hard to tackle with.
