Waqar H Bhatti arrested after serious outrage of netizens on his 'Shivlinga' tweet

Jammu, May 27: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested TV panelist Waqar H Bhatti based on an FIR filed against him for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of a particular community with his provocative 'shivlinga' tweet that resulted into social media outrage.

TV Panelist Waqar H Bhatti , who has a history of such arrests, had tweeted a derogatory post, hurting Hindu sentiments saying, "Breaking news; Committee found Shivlinga at Gyanvapi Masjid. Here is the viral picture. 'Gobar Bakhto' don't be so happy as you will find millions of such stones in my area." His derogatory tweet was followed with severe outrage on social media, demanding for his arrest.
 
 
 
 
 
His tweet was later deleted, however, netizens had demanded for his immediate arrest after the incident. Due to severe outrage on social media and considering its consequences, Bhatti had also tried explain himself later through another tweet saying, "I did not target any religion and why should I target when the matter is in court."
 
 
According to a Senior police officer, an FIR was registered following his tweet, that hurt religious sentiments. As per the procedure, Bhatti was later arrested for his provocative tweet. In a similar incident, Delhi police had arrested Delhi University's Hindu College Associate Professor of History Ratan Lal for making objectionable comments against the Shivlinga discovered at the Gyanvapi site.
