New Delhi, May 27: Considering severe flood of Assam the Central govt has released an advance of Rs. 324 Crore from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for the flood hit state Assam. Union Finance Ministry released an order in this regard dating May 25. According to the order, the amount was being disbursed to the state govt in advance due to the serious damage caused because of the recent floods.
The Union ministry of Finance's order of financial aid for Assam, dated May 25, stated, "Keeping in view of damage caused by floods and landslides in many parts of the state during first of 2022, the amount is being released to the state govt in advance on the recommendation received from the Ministry of Home Affairs."
This was followed by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma taking it to Twitter to express his gratefulness saying, "Grateful to Adarniya Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi ji and Adarniya Griha Mantri Amit Shah ji for releasing an advance of Rs. 324 Cr from SDRF to help Assam deal with the ongoing flood situation. The funds will ensure timely relief and rehabilitation of the affected citizens."
A team of officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs reached Guwahati on May 26, and held a meeting with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) officials regarding the damage assessment of recent flood and landslide in the state.
