Kashmir's mega handicraft exhibition attracts record tourist footfall

Srinagar, May 26: With an aim to promote local artisans in Kashmir, the department of handicrafts has organized a mega handicraft exhibition. The exhibition was displayed at Kashmir's famous Dal lake where Kashmir's unique products were showcased.

 

 

 

 

The mega handicraft exhibition at Kashmir's Dal lake provided a platform to local artisans to showcase their unique and tourists from varied geographical areas visited the exhibitions. According to exhibition in charge Kaiser Anjum, "Such types of exhibitions always attract people on a large scale and that's why for the promotion of tourism such exhibitions should also be organized at other places of the valley.

Custom handmade products including carpets, wood carvings, shawls, crewel, embroidery, chain stitches, paper mache and willow wicker were put to display for tourists from around the globe. According to the exhibition authorities, with record footfall the exhibition proved to be huge success.

 

 

ANI quotes a tourist, "We already enjoyed the Shikara ride at Dal lake and were mesmerized by these beautiful handicrafts here at the exhibition. I have also bought these Kashmiri embroidery suits for myself and my family."
