Indian Army's counter against Chinese PLA at Galwan; Seven bridges in progress across river

New Delhi, May 26: According to credible sources, Indian Army is reportedly building seven bridges across the historic Galwan river, in order to deal with any military emergency. Besides, the Indian Army is deployed with full capacity along the LAC along with required infrastructure for the swift movement of tanks or armoured personnel carriers in case of any military emergency.

 

 

 

 

During his first visit as the Indian Army Chief, General Manoj Pande conducted a security review of the LAC and Eastern Ladakh. He reviewed the positions of the Chinese PLA and counter-deployments of the Indian Army in the region. The developments came in continuation of Chinese Army's double-span bridge that is being constructed 16 km east of the finger 8 of Pangong Tso.

 

 

 

 

 

According to satellite imagery that was studied by the Indian Army, the first bridge built by the Chinese over the narrowest part of Pangong Tso at Khurnak Fort was 6m wide with the capacity to handle jeeps. At Khurnak Fort, the Pangong Tso is only 354 meters wide and hence the PLA decided to bridge it for faster deployment of troops. However, the Indian Army has noted that the second bridge currently being built parallelly to the first bridge is 11m wide and has the capacity to handle 70 tons of load, which is more than the weight of the heaviest Chinese tank.

  

 

The construction was condemned by India and termed as act of provocation. According to the reports of Hindustan Times, the Indian Army is fully deployed along the LAC with roads and bridges that can accommodate tanks or armoured personnel carriers all the way up to Daulet Beg Oldi and as many as seven bridges coming up on Galwan river to handle any military emergency.
