Varanasi, May 24: Varanasi district court is likely to pronounce the verdict in the
Gyanvapi masjid case today (May 24). The district court completed hearing of arguments in the case on Monday (May 24) and had reserved its order for today (May 24).
According to the information that Adv Madan Mohan Yadav representing Hindu side in the case, has provided, the Muslim side wants the case to be dismissed right away. The court will be hearing the matter at 2.00 pm on May 24, today and the decision will probably be out by 4.00 pm same day. About the demand from the Muslim side, Yadav said, "The matter cannot be dismissed just like that, it will sustain. It is not a matter of property but of the Right to worship."
While the case was going on at the Varanasi district court, Adv Ashwini Upadhyay had filed an intervention application in the Supreme Court seeking impleadment in the Gyanvapi mosque case stating that a mosque constructed on temple land cannot be a mosque. Upadhyay had earlier also filed a petition challenging the constitutional validity of the Places of Worship Act, 1991.
