The Palarivattom Police have registered the case against Sudhakaran following the complaint of a Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) leader Vinu Vincent. The case has been registered under Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Earlier this week, the KPCC president had used the slang ‘the dog with a broken chain’ against the Kerala CM. During an interview, he had referred to the intensive campaign led by the Chief Minister for the Thirkkakkara assembly by-poll and said that Vijayan was campaigning like a dog with a broken chain. No one could control him, he had added.

As Sudhakaran’s remark created an uproar, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) convenor EP Jayarajan said that it is a “highly reprehensible” and “vulgar term” that is not commonly used by “even an ordinary politician”.

“Sudhakaran's statement is highly reprehensible. It is a vulgar term that is not commonly used by even an ordinary politician,” Jayarajan said on Tuesday.

The LDF convenor stated the incident was a “tantamount” to insulting the people of Kerala. “This is tantamount to insulting Kerala. The Chief Minister can be criticized politically and administratively. But it is a sad fact that the KPCC president has gone so far as to say anything in violation of all that,” he said.

Jayarajan further called for a protest against Sudhakaran’s remark. “Mass protests should be staged to protest this stance. This is tantamount to insulting all the people of Kerala. People should realize that this is Congress and this is the United Democratic Front (UDF),” he added.
