Ramanathapuram, May 17: After getting fed up with harassment by converted Christians and police, a woman named, Valarmathi attempted to self-immolate along with her infant after authorities denied to take action.
Valarmathi is a resident of Karuppa Kudamban Pacheri near RS Mangalam in the Ramanathapuram district. As per the reports, converted Christians in her village are forcing her to embrace Christianity. Moreover, Christians also harasseing her and her family and attacking family members. They also beat her son to death for refusing to convert.

Even despite filing complaints in the RS Mangalam police station, police denied taking any action against them. Fed up with police inaction and unable to bear the harassment from Christians, she came to the Collectorate and tried to self-immolate in protest.
It should be reminded, that only a few months ago, a 17-year-old Hindu girl, Lavanya, took her life due to torture by her Christian school to convert to Christianity. The DMK government tried every trick in its book to discredit the girl’s charges in her deathbed declaration. It is not new for converted Christians to harass Hindu families in their area.
