UP govt makes singing national anthem compulsory in all Madrasas

Lucknow, May 13: Taking a great initiative to develop the feeling of patriotism in students, the Uttar Pradesh government has made it mandatory for all students and teachers in Madarsas of the state to sing the National Anthem before commencing classes.

SN Pandey, the registrar of the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board, issued an order in this regard to all the district minority welfare officers on May 9. The decision was taken at the meeting of the UP madrasa Education Board on March 24.
 
As per the order, the schools will continue with the previously sung religious prayers along with the national anthem—"Jana Gana Mana".
 
 
 
It should be noted that Madrasas were closed from March 30 to May 11 due to Ramazan. The Schools reopened on Thursday, May 12. Therefore, the order came into effect on Thursday. The order will be applicable in all recognized aided and non aided Madrassas.

The National Anthem would be sung before the morning prayers in the Islamic seminaries. According to Minority Welfare Minister Danish Azad Ansari, this would inculcate social values among the students. He also said that the Yogi government is working on a project to upgrade Muslim religious schools under which students would be taught maths, science, and computers along with scriptures from the holy book.
