Amravati, May 10: Major blow to Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as Kadapa police in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, May 10, arrested YSRCP leader and cousin of CM YS Reddy for allegedly demanding and taking bribes from the owners of a construction company in Chakrayapet Mandal on Monday.
The accused YS Konda Reddy, was the YSR Congress Party in charge of Chakrayapet Mandal of YSR Kadapa district, the home district of the chief minister.
Kadapa Superintendent of Police KKN Anburajan said that the construction firm was awarded the tender to build a road between Vempalle and Rayachoti. The works have been in progress for several months now.
βOn May 5, YS Konda Reddy, a resident of Pulivendula town threatened the construction firm owners, demanding a bribe to allow the continuation of work. He also threatened that the ongoing works would be halted by influencing the government,ββ the SP said.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victims in Chakrayapet Mandal police station, the police registered the case on May 5. On Monday, the police arrested YS Konda Reddy for threatening contractors and extorting money from them.
The SP urged people to report any incident of threat or extortion by calling 14400 or 100.
