Srinagar, April 09: Talking a strict action against the anti-national activities that took place in Jamia Masjid, Srinagar police arrested 13 accused including two main instigators, for delivering provocative slogans inside the Masjid.
 
Apart from that, police have also called many more suspected youths for questioning. Police arrested them under sections 124A and 447 of IPC.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS) a police spokesperson said that till now, thirteen accused persons have been arrested in a case related to hooliganism and sloganeering. This also includes two main instigators, Basharat Nabi Bhat S/o Gh Nabi Bhat R/o Hawal, Nowhatta, and Umar Manzoor Sheikh S/o Late Manzoor Sheikh R/o Bahuddin Saab, Nowhatta, for instigating Muslim people.
 
"During the course of the investigation, technical means were adapted to identify these hooligans, and raids were conducted at different locations, which led to the arrest of two main instigators of the sloganeering, namely Basharat Nabi Bhat S/o Gh Nabi Bhat R/o Hawal, Nowhatta and Umar Manzoor Sheikh S/o Late Manzoor Sheikh R/o Bahuddin Saab, Nowhatta. Both were apprehended and formally arrested in the case, "it reads.
 
 
During the investment, police also found Pakistan's angle in this matter. "It also came out that the main accused had received instructions from Pakistan-based handlers of terror outfits to disrupt Friday prayers in Jamia Masjid and cause a law and order situation," officials said.
 
 
A controversy erupted after Srinagar's largest mosque reverberated with 'Azadi' and 'anti-India' slogans after the Friday prayers. Apart from the Azadi slogans, they also hailed Zakir Musa, the Chief of the terrorist group Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, who was killed by the Indian Army in an encounter in May 2019. This was the first congregational prayer held in the grand mosque in the month of Ramzan.
