Bengaluru, April 08: Amid the ongoing Hijab and Azaan controversy in Karnataka, tension prevailed in several schools in Bengaluruafter they received bomb threats around 11 am on Friday. The threat messages were sent via Mail. The mail mentioned that the bombs have been planted on the campus.
Following the information Police and bomb disposal squads were rushed to all six schools and cordoned off the whole campus. They also evacuated the students.
So far, no explosive material has been found at any of the schools. After an initial investigation, Police have stated that prima facie, the bomb threat looks like a hoax.
As per the reports, Six schools – Delhi Public School in Sulakunte, Gopalan International School in Mahadevapura, New Academy School in Marathahalli, Ebenezer International School in Electronic City, St Vincent Pallotti School in Hennur, and Indian Public School in Govindapura received the emails with the bomb threat.
One of the threat messages read: "A powerful bomb has been planted in your school, attention it is not a joke, this is no joke, a very powerful bomb has been planted in your school, immediately call the police and sappers, hundreds of lives may suffer, including yours, do not delay, now everything is only in your hands!" The email was forwarded from 'barons.masarfm@gmail.com'.
“Investigations are in full swing to understand who is behind this email. We will get to the bottom of things,” City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said.
