Kolkata, Apr 8: The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested four individuals from Mumbai on Apr 7, for their alleged involvement in the Birbhum violence case, of West Bengal. Bappa SK alias Sal Mohamad, Sabu SK alias Sadril SK, Taj Mohamad alias Chand and Serajul SK alias Poltu have been identified as the accused.
Accused persons involved in the Bogtui carnage at Rampurhat, Birbhum district of West Bengal had absconded after the incident. CBI had planned a meticulous operation, to trace their hideout in Mumbai, using technical and human intelligence that resulted in the first arrest of the accused in the case.
These are the first arrests in the case after the CBI took over the case on Mar 21 and registered an FIR in the matter, according to the order of the Calcutta High Court. The arrests were based on technical evidence . According to the CBI, the four are among 21 accused named in the FIR. The CBI has assured that the others accused in the case will be arrested soon.
Around nine people were killed in the Rampurhat area of West Bengal's Birbhum on Mar 21, when some houses in Bogtui village were set on fire.
