NLFB militants turned dacoits killed near Indo - Bhutan border

Two armed miscreants, one of whom is identied as former NLFB member, were killed in an encounter with police in Assam"s Chirang district, on Apr 5. The encounter took place at the Khugring area under the Runikhata police station.

Guwahati, Apr 6: Two armed miscreants, one of whom is identied as former NLFB member, were killed in an encounter with police in Assam's Chirang district, on Apr 5. Police had recovered two 9mm pistols from the encounter site. The encounter took place at the Khugring area under the Runikhata police station.

One Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) has been reported injured during the operation. According to Dr. L S Bishnoi, Additional Director General of Police, the police were tipped with the information about the miscreants, followed after which a police team of Chirang district launched an operation at Choudhaguri village, near Khungring at late midnight.
 
 
 
 
 
According to the official statement of Assam police, two armed miscreants were killed during the encounter and an Additional Superintendent of Police, Prakash Medhi, was also injured. One among the deceased persons was identified as Mahanta Narzary, who was a former member of the National Liberation Front of Bodoland. The injured officer received bullet injuries in the wrist of his right hand and was immadiately rushed to the hospital thereafter.
