White House Press secretary Jen Psaki passed this remark while responding to a question on India's importing of Russian oil. She continues, US expects every country around the world should abide by the sanctions that we announced on Russia.

"Energy payments are not sanctioned. That's a decision made by each individual country, and we've been very clear that each country is going to make their own choices even as we have made the decision and other countries have made the decision to ban energy imports," Psaki said.

This comes just days after the United States' Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs, Daleep Singh, who came to Delhi to strengthen ties, ended up issuing a warning to India while disregarding all diplomatic protocol. He said the US would not like to see any country engaging in financial transactions with the Russian central bank.

US NSA tried to warn India, saying, Russia would not come to India's rescue if China was to continue its misadventure along the LAC.

Speaking about his warning to India, Psaki said that Deputy NSA conveyed a message that it is not in India’s interest to accelerate or increase imports of Russian energy and other commodities.

"What Daleep did make clear to his counterparts during this visit, was that we don’t believe it’s in India’s interest to accelerate or increase imports of Russian energy and other commodities," she said.
