Mumbai, April 5: The Kashmir Files, released on March 11, is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus during the Kashmir insurgency in 1990. Ever since its release, people have recieved the film extremely well, and in great numbers. Many states even declared it tax-free.
Twinkle Khanna has now reacted to the craze around it. She joked about how other filmmakers are rushing to register movies titled, Andheri Files, South Bombay Files and others to emulate the success of The Kashmir Files. She also joked about making a film about disastrous manicures and naming it Nail Files.
While many Bollywood celebrities have lauded the film, Twinkle Khanna took a jibe at the craze around it. She wrote, "In a meeting at a producer’s office, I am informed that there is a deluge of fresh movie titles being registered as homage to The Kashmir Files. Since larger cities have already been claimed, now the poor chaps are registering names like Andheri Files, Khar-Danda Files, and even South Bombay Files. I am just wondering if my colleagues can still call themselves filmmakers, or with all this filing, they, like the original nationalist, Manoj Kumar, have all turned into clerks.”
Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files destroyed Akshay Kumar's Bachchhan Paandey at the box office as the former shattered all records. Lauding the success of it, even at the cost of his own, Akshay Kumar jokingly said, "Vivek ji ne Kashmir Files bana kar humare desh ki ek bohot bade dardanak sach ko samne rakha hain. Ye film ek aisi bhet bann kar ayi, ye aur baat hain ki meri picture ko bhi duba diya hain."
