Srinagar, April 5: Jammu and Kashmir witnessed horrifying attacks on civilians as well as on security forces on Monday. Militants shot at a Kashmiri Pandit in South Kashmir’s Shopian, leaving him seriously injured on Monday evening. This came after two other attacks took place during the day in the Valley, in which a CRPF martyred and three people were injured, including two migrant workers.

Kashmiri Pandit, Bal Krishan who hails from Chotigam village received three bullets and is in critical condition. The attack on migrant labourers was the second in two days and the fourth in a fortnight. It should be noted that all of the attacks happened in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

In the third attack on Monday, one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was killed and another was injured on Monday after terrorists opened fire at the security forces near Maisuma Bridge area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar. The terrorists opened fire on CRPF personnel at Maisuma, resulting in injuries to the two jawans. They were rushed to the SMHS Hospital. However, one of them was declared dead on arrival.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha condoled the death of CRPF personnel. "Strongly condemn dastardly terror attack on civilians and CRPF personnel. My deepest condolences to family of martyred HC Vishal Kumar and prayers for early recovery of injured. Our security forces will give a befitting reply to perpetrators of despicable attacks," Manoj Sinha said on Monday.

It seems like the terrorists wanted to create fear among migrant workers and drive them out of the Valley. Similar incidents took place last year on the migrant labourers. These attacks come at a time when the central government had informed the Parliament that 30 people from outside Jammu and Kashmir have purchased property in the Union territory – a sensitive issue in the Valley.

Apart from this, it also come at a time when the Kashmir Files that depicts the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits by Islamic terrorists is making rounds all over the country. Moreover, on Monday, a team of the Delimitation Commission arrived in the UT to hold public consultations over redrawing of constituencies.
