Karauli, April 4: A picture indeed speaks a thousand words, and this photo from the violence-hit Karauli in Rajasthan has proved it. It received all praises for a Rajasthan Police constable who saved a Hindu child from harm as he ran through the narrow lanes through burning buildings set on fire by rioters.
The picture shared on Twitter showed the constable, Netresh Sharma, running with a kid in his arms as houses around him burned.
While sharing the image on the Twitter, Shamli SSP Sukirti Madhav Mishra said, "So proud of constable Netresh Sharma of Rajasthan Police for saving a precious life. This picture is in deed worth a thousand words."
The image was reportedly captured during the communal violence in Rajasthan's Karauli area on Saturday. At least 42 people, including 4 police personnel, were injured after some peopl allegedly pelted stones at a motorcycle rally taken out as part of a religious procession in Rajasthan’s Karauli on April 2.
The rally was being taken out on the occasion of 'Nav Samvatsar', the first day of Hindu New Year. The resulting violence saw shops and vehicles being set on fire by rioters.
So far, 30 people have been detained, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Hawa Singh Ghumariya said.
In light of the communal tension in Karauli, which is around 170 km from capital Jaipur, a curfew has been imposed till Monday night. Internet services remained suspended in the district till April 3 midnight.
