UP ATS arrests Bangladeshi national illegally studying and staying in Darul Uloom Deoband

In a statement, the UP Police said that they got a tip off that a foreign national, Talha, was staying in Deoband on fake documents and was involved in anti-India activities. Acting on the inputs, the police found that a person by the name of Talha was staying in room number 61 in Deoband and was studying Arabic in class-8.

Deoband, April 29: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Friday arrested a Bangladeshi national illegally studying and staying at Darul Uloom in Deoband. Talha Talukdar, a resident of Kummila District in Bangladesh, was arrested by the police for staying in Darul Uloom on fake documents including Aadhar and Pan cards.

In a statement, the UP Police said that they got a tip off that a foreign national, Talha, was staying in Deoband on fake documents and was involved in anti-India activities. Acting on the inputs, the police found that a person by the name of Talha was staying in room number 61 in Deoband and was studying Arabic in class-8.
 
Following this, he was called by the field unit of ATS Saharanpur for questioning. When asked about his Bangladeshi nationality, Talha said he was an Indian and produced an Aadhaar card, Pan card and life-time membership of Darul Uloom. However, when police pressed him further and asked detailed questions, he couldn't give satisfactory answers, the statement said.
 
 
 
The police said that they also found a photocopy of Bangladeshi passport and two currency notes. When asked about these, Talha could not answer and admitted that he was from Bangladesh. According to the statement, the arrested person said his name was Talha Bin Farookh, and he was from Barguali village in Kandi of Kummila district.
Probe is underway to find out his exact motive, links in India, details about his associates and what kind of anti national activity he was involved into.
