Dalai Lama to visit Ladakh in July - Aug; Tibetan officials visit Dharamshala

The planned visit would be the first outing of the Dalai Lama since the emergence of a pandemic to which “the followers in Ladakh will be delightful”, according to former parliamentarian Thupten Tsewang.

New Delhi, Apr 19: Dalai Lama will soon be visiting Ladakh. Thiksay Rinpoche and former Indian Parliamentarian Thupten Tsewang paid a visit to the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile on Monday (Apr 18). Followed to their visit and agreeing to their request, Dalai Lama will be visiting Ladakh between July and August.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama's decision to visit Ladakh, comes in line with the request of Thiksay Rinpoche of Thiksay Monastery and Former MP of Indian Parliament Thupten Tsewang, Current President of Ladakh Buddhist Association, on behalf of Ladakhi people. The two received a special audience from His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence earlier on Apr 18, during which the request was made as per Thiksay Rinpoche.
 
 
 
 
 
 
The planned visit would be the first outing of the Dalai Lama since the emergence of a pandemic to which “the followers in Ladakh will be delightful”, according to former parliamentarian Thupten Tsewang. The spiritual leader has spent most of the time at his residence in Dharamshala since the COVID 19 outbreak. During the period, the Dalai Lama has only granted virtual and in-person audiences from his residence in Dharamshala.
 
 
At Rinpoche and Tsewang's visit to the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, the parliament members of the Standing Committee were introduced by the Deputy Speaker and the two were briefed on the Tibetan parliament and its functioning. Followed by a brief gathering at the Standing Committee’s hall wherein Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang apprised Thiksay Rinpoche of the Parliamentary delegation’s recent official visit to Delhi and of the Deputy Speaker’s attendance at the conference entitled ‘Kailash Mukti Jan Sammelan’ organized by the Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
