Aizawl, Apr 11: The troops of Assam Rifles recovered weapons, grenades and warlike stores in Mizoram's Champhai district, that is located along the Indo - Myanmar border. Troops of Serchhip Battalion carried out the operation, on Apr 10.
Based on specific information, the troops of Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector of Assam Rifles carried out the operation near Tyao Kawn village of Mizoram's Champhai district. According to the reports of the Assam Rifles, the team had specific information about a possible deal involving of warlike stores near Tyao Kawn village.
According to the force, "The Assam Rifles team suspected arrival of the delivery of warlike stores and reacted to apprehend the individuals. The individuals were, however, startled and escaped into Myanmar. While rushing away to save themselves from being apprehended by their own team, the suspected individuals left the bag on the spot containing warlike stores."
Reports also suggest that the use of such warlike stores could have endangered the lives of innocent people and led to various illegal activities. The recovery has prevented the loss of precious lives. Further probe in the matter is underway.
The Assam Rifles recovered two 9mm pistols, one 0.32 revolver, seven improvised hand grenades, 15 rounds of 0.32 revolver ammunition, two Tac Phone/RS walkie talkie, one Tac vest, and one power bank from the area.
