To shed light on the sensitive issue of human trafficking prevailing in Kerala, filmmakers Vipul Amrutlal Shah and Sudipto Sen have come up with their new project titled 'The Kerala Story' to narrate a horrifying tale of women's trafficking. "The Kerala Story' reveals a tiny part of the dark picture of society that is horrifying and gut-wrenching.

Talking about the film, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah said, "This story is a human tragedy, one that will shake you to the core. When Sudipto came and narrated it to me along with his research of over 3-4 years, I was in tears in the first meeting itself. That was the very day I decided to make this film. I am glad that we are now progressing with the film and we hope to make a very real, unbiased, and true narrative of events."

The teaser of the movie has been released on Youtube. The trailer opens with a speech by former Kerala Chief Minister, V S Achuthanandan, in which he is heard saying that the plan of the Popular Front of India is to make Kerala a Muslim state in the next 20 years. It then speaks about the plight of thousands of girls and claims that many have been trafficked to the Islamic State and other Islamic war zones in the past 10 years.

As per the statistics shown in the video, since 2009, nearly 32,000 girls from Kerala and Mangaluru, from Hindu and Christian families, have been converted to Islam. Most of the girls were sent to Islamic countries for terrorist activities.

The Kerala Story is produced by Sunshine pictures and produced by Vipul Shah and Aashin A Shah. Sudipto Sen will be handling the direction of the film.

It should be noted that in 2018, Kerala police arrested two people on charges of helping a Muhammad Riyaz "forcefully" convert a Kerala woman and attempt to take her to Syria to be sold off to Islamic State terrorists. Police arrested them following an investigation based on a complaint by the 25-year-old woman, who was rescued from Saudi Arabia and brought home last year by her family.
