‘Great Minds on India’ now in Urdu language also

 

Shillong, Mar 22: A world-acclaimed book ‘Great Minds on India’ written by Salil Gewali, a Shillong-based writer, has won the applause of many eminent scholars from across the world. A Kolkata-based NGO ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation’ has already translated the book into the Urdu language. A noted Urdu scholar and senior journalist Dr. Anwar Rafiq of Kolkata has offered to render the book into Urdu.

 

The Urdu translator Dr. Anwar Rafiq expresses a deep sense of gratitude for being fortunate to translate the book. He says the title will inspire both -- the new generation and Indian intellectuals. Speaking in praise of the publication, the president of ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation’- Mr. Abdul Khalique says that India’s ancient literature is very vast and it deserves the high respect and appreciation of every single citizen of the country. Our organization will put its all efforts to create awareness about the rich literary wisdom of the country through this book which is full testimonies of the great scholars from the West.

 

Gewali’s research-based book, which has already been translated into thirteen languages, including German, has also received the appreciation of many top academicians, scientists, and leaders. Prefaced by a NASA Chief scientist – Dr. Kamlesh Lulla of Houston, USA, the title has been officially approved for translation into Kannada, Punjabi, and Assamese languages by the Governments of Karnataka, Punjab, and Assam.

 

 

‘Great Minds on India’ elegantly showcases profound opinions and appreciation of world-renowned writers, philosophers, and scientists which include the top thinkers like François Voltaire, Arthur Schopenhauer, Fredrich Hegel, Johann Goethe, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mark Twain, Friedrich Schlegel, and scientists like Niels Bohr, Heisenberg, and Oppenheimer, on the ancient scriptures. The renowned poet TS Eliot was so overwhelmed that he once proclaimed: “Indian philosophers’ subtleties make most of the great European philosophers look like schoolboys”

 

The first published in Xerox format in 1998, the book in regular printed format was brought out by Academic Publication in 2009 which was formally launched by the then Governor of Meghalaya – RS Mushahary. The translated editions of the book in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, and Bengali were subsequently launched by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Governors of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and West Bengal.
