More than 13 lakh workers lit over 11, 71,078 Lakh lamps in just 10 minutes at Ramghat and Dutt Akhara Ghat on Tuesday evening. The diyas were lined in rows on the banks of the Kshipra river and Ramghat-Dattaakhara-Sunhari Ghat. Photos of the grand lighting have now been circulated online.

This was made possible by children and elders who participated in the 'Shiv Jyoti Arpanam Mahotsav'. By doing so, Ujjain beat the earlier record set in Ayodhya, where 9.41 earthen lamps were lit.

Guinness World Records sent a five-member team to Ujjain to judge the world record bid. Nischal Borat, one of the members, made the record office and handed over a certificate to MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
