Srinagar, Mar 19: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, held a security review meeting with senior officials at Raj Bhawan on Saturday in view of the Amarnath Yatra and the proposed assembly elections. He also handed over the appointment orderson compassionate grounds families of martyrs. Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha was also present in the meeting.

According to a statement of the Ministry of Home Affairs, "The Government of India led by the PM Narendra Modi is committed to the welfare of security personnel of Jammu & Kashmir. Displaying this commitment, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah handed over appointment orderson compassionate grounds in Jammu today,to the Next of Kin of four security personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police who were martyred in terrorist incidents in the Union Territory."
 
Amit Shah later interacted with them. Interacting with them he said, "the entire nation is proud of the courage and commitment shown by these brave security personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police."
 
 
It is pertinent to mention that the Union Home Minister, Shah during his last visit to Jammu & Kashmir in October 2021 visited the house of Martyr Inspector Pervaiz Ahmad Dar in Srinagar and in 2019 and handed over an appointment letter to the wife of martyr Inspector Arshad Khan. The Union Home Minister has lauded the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in restoring peace and in Jammu and Kashmir on numerous occasions and in number of fora.

During his visit, Shah will also attend Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)'s 83rd Raising Day parade in Jammu later today. This is the first time that the CRPF is celebrating its Raising Day outside the national capital. This is the second visit of the Home Minister to Jammu in the last five months. Earlier, he had visited Jammu and Kashmir for five days.
 
The Amarnath yatra will resume this April after being suspended for two consecutive years due to COVID-19. The administration of Jammu and Kashmir has already started making arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra. The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) had last week announced the commencement of registration of pilgrims for yatra through online mode from April and said RFID-based tracking will be put in place for the movement of vehicles during the pilgrimage to the shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas.
