UK foreign secretary to visit India amid Ukraine war

The meeting will address the sweeping sanctions on Russia that have led to an unprecedented hike in prices of several key items.

London, Mar 17: Amid the ongoing Russia-Ukrain conflict, UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss is expected to visit India by the end of March to discuss bilateral relations. She is the first European Foreign minister to visit India since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The meeting will address the sweeping sanctions on Russia that have led to an unprecedented hike in prices of several key items. Truss will be accompanied by senior US and European officials, including US Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland.
 
 
Recently, the UK Foreign Secretary had spoken on the crisis in Ukraine with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The invasion that started on February 24 has been a major geopolitical earthquake for Europe and the world and has led to the worst refugee crisis for the continent since World War- II.
 
Truss last visited India in October last year for two days, during which she met with Jaishankar and said that partnership with India is crucial.
