Mumbai, Mar 14: The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) on Monday issued a severe heat wave condition alert for the Saurashtra-Kutch, Konkan areas. They also predicted heatwave conditions over Coastal Karnataka, Southwest, Rajasthan and Gujarat region.
The weather department further said that there is a high probability that maximum temperatures will rise by 2-3°C over most parts of Northwest, Central, and northeast India during next 3 days. Yellow alert has been issued in for a heatwave in the Gujarat region for the next 2 days.

Besides, on Sunday, Mumbai recorded a temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius and the weather office has sounded a temperature alert in the city for the next few days and has warned that the temperature may rise up to 39 degrees Celsius.
Yellow Alert in Gujarat
MET Ahmedabad on Monday informed that a yellow alert had been sounded in Gujarat owing to the oncoming severe heatwave for the next two days. She also mentioned that the temperatures in Ahmedabad will rise up to 40-41° C. “Yellow alerts have been issued for a heat wave in Gujarat region for next 2 days. Temperature might rise around 1-2° C & a severe heatwave is expected in Saurashtra & Gujarat regions. Temperature in Ahmedabad is expected around 40-41° C", it said.
Rain in Southern India
South Interior Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe are likely to receive light rainfall from 16 March to 18 March. Andaman and Nicobar Islands will also receive light rainfall from 14-18 March.
Strong Winds (speed reaching 25-35 kmph) likely to prevail over plains of Northwest India on 16- 17 March.
