#PunjabElection: Punjab CM Charanjit Channi trailing from Chamkaur Sahib, Bhadaur seats

Former chief ministers Parkash Singh Badal, Amarinder Singh and Rajinder Kaur Bhattal were also trailing. SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal was also behind in his Jalalabad seat.

Counting is on in 117 Assembly constituencies in Punjab and chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi is trailing from Chamkaur Sahib and Bhadaur, the two assembly seats from which he was contesting the assembly elections.
 
Channi has represented Chamkaur Sahib in the assembly for three terms since 2007.The AAP has established a clear lead, leaving Congress in the second position in the poll race in early trends.

Channi of the Congress is seeking re-election from his home constituency Chamkaur Sahib. He was also nominated from a second seat, Bhadaur in Barnala district.

According to data for 117 seats available on the Election Commission website, the AAP was leading in 89 seats, Congress in 13, SAD in seven, BJP in five, BSP in two, and Independent in one.
 
Channi earlier visited Shri Katalgarh Chamkaur Sahib Gurudwara in Ropar to offer prayers and seek blessings. Hopeful of forming government in Punjab, as predicted by various exit polls, Aam Aadmi Party Chief Ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann also visited Gursagar Mastuana Sahib Gurdwara in Sangrur.
Early trends show the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is racing ahead of its rivals in Punjab.
