I have been reflecting in my own way on Dattopant Thengadi Ji's Third Way. I present these small "ripples" that it has caused in my mind in a series. I am glad it has found its resonance in many thinking minds alike. I hope the readers have read the earlier article in the series before moving ahead.

All agree that knowledge is power. But Dattopant warns us about its possible unrestrained use which might be very dreadful. Any weapon should be used with great caution or it totally defeats the purpose of creating happiness at all levels. Even advancements in science and technology too should work to achieve the objective of life.

When we talk about the just global order, developed nations cannot focus only on their comfort and convenience. But it cannot help them in a long run. The global order ought to allow all to prosper well.

He strongly suggests that Science and technology should be guided by humanitarian objectives. They have to work within the framework of humanism alone. Knowledge power will have to be in harmony with the global order. Of course, Dattopant states that a change of heart will not lead all to this thought. He elaborates that as the present order would result in self-contradiction and collapse, it probably would compel us to find the path of peaceful co-existence.

If we don't want to fall into the trap of self-destruction, we all have to practice self-restraint. This is the only way to save all. This probably is the Hindu way of life.

He reminds all that change in the institutional frameworks is somewhat easier. They don't succeed unless they are accompanied by relevant changes in the socio-psychological setup. Awareness is to be created, the need and utility of change in the outlook are necessary.
