Chennai, December 05: In a shocking development, Chennai police have rescued as many as 12 minor children who were brutally tortured in Madarsa for not learning the 'Quran' in nine months. Police rescued boys belonging to the age group of 10-13 years soon after an unidentified person alerted the child helpline about the crime.
It is being reported that the Police have registered a complaint under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences act 2012. As per reports, they were beaten with cables as punishment and were so badly injured that some of them had to be admitted to hospital and one had to undergo surgery there to treat the wounds. They were natives of Bihar and they were brought to Chennai to learn Quran for nine months.
According to the children, they were made to wake up early in the morning and made to recite the verses of the Quran and if they failed or there was some issue with their pronunciation, they were mercilessly beaten with cables as punishment on the backs.
All 12 children were found to have injuries on their bodies, inflicted due to the beatings. One boy, in particular, was injured very seriously and the doctors had to perform surgery on him to save him.
All the boys have now been posted in government homes and the police are conducting further investigation and have contacted their families back in Bihar. After their investigation is complete, the police will send the kids back to their homes in Bihar. They are also investigating if the Madarsa was properly certified and two persons have been arrested so far.
