Memes flood internet after Congress MP Abdul Khaleque claims "Messi was born in Assam"

Dispur, Dec 19: In a hilarious instance, Congress MP Abdul Khaleque claimed on Monday that the Argentinian football ace Lionel Messi was born in Assam, India.

 

 

 

Representing the Barpeta constituency of Assam in the Lok Sabha, Khaleque took to Twitter to make this absurd connection, after the historic victory of Argentina against France in the FIFA World Cup Final.

 

"#Messi Congratulations from the core of heart. We are proud of you for your Assam connection," he had tweeted. When a netizen named Aditya Sharma questioned him about such bizarre statements, the Congress leader claimed, "Yes, he was born in Assam."

 

 

However, the tweets have now been deleted.

 

Memes flood the internet soon after this development.

 

 

A similar incident took place earlier. A Trinamool Congress spokesperson named Riju Dutta compared the victory of Argentina in the FIFA World Cup Final to that of his political party. He wrote, “Ei joy sudhu Argentina r jai noi, eta Maa Mati Manusher jai…Jai Bangla (This is just not the victory of Argentina but of Trinamool Congress… Hail Bengal)."
