The Hindi cinema industry is being criticized a lot lately, as netizens have started comparing South Indian films with Hindi releases. Along similar lines, IMDb's latest figures for the Top 10 Indian movies of 2022 also reaffirmed South Cinema's dominance over films of other languages in India.
In what can be called a setback to Hindi cinema, only one Hindi film has made it to the list. Besides, SS Rajamouli's RRR is ranked number one and Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files took the second spot.
It should be noted that IMDb creates the list of the most popular movies as well as web series using the data of real page views with more than 200 million per month visitors to IMDb.
The list of most popular Indian movies of 2022 includes several films in regional languages, including Tamil (Vikram, Ponniyin Selvan: Part One, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect), Telugu (RRR, Major, Sita Ramam), and Kannada (K.G.F: Chapter 2, Kantara, 777 Charlie).
