Ahemdabad, November 04: A day after the Election Commission declared the dates of the Gujarat election, now the Aam Adami Party has announced Isudan Gadhvi, who was earlier arrested in a liquor prohibition case, as the party’s chief ministerial candidate for Gujarat.
Arvind Kejriwal said he was selected based on opinions submitted to the party by the people. As per the reports, he got as many as 73 percent votes in a poll conducted by the party.
While making the announcement, the AAP supremo said, “We don’t decide who will be the CM candidate while sitting in a room. Bhagwant Mann was chosen as CM not by the AAP but by Punjab’s public. At a time when it seems sure that the AAP will form the government, today we are not announcing the CM candidate of the AAP but announcing the CM for the next Gujarat government. Last week we invited public opinion, and 16,48,500 responses were received and 73 percent of them named Isudanbhai Gadhvi.”
After the announcement, Gadhvi embraced party colleagues such as Manoj Sorathiya and Yuvrajsinh Jadeja and got down from the stage to seek the blessings of his mother.
The state will go to the polls on December 1 and 5. He used to run a television show titled “Mahamanthan”. He quit as editor of VTV Gujarati last year to join the AAP.
In January this year, Cops of the Infocity police station in Gandhinagar had arrested Isudan Gandhvi, for alleged drinking of liquor at the times of the clash between AAP and BJP workers at Kamalam in Koba on December 20.
Gadhvi was arrested after a forensic science laboratory (FSL) report confirmed the presence of alcohol in his blood on Saturday. According to the FIR filed, the lab report found 0.0545% (weight by volume) alcohol presence in Gadhvi’s blood samples taken on December 20, just after his detention from Kamalam.
